Aradippou municipality has signed a deal with Neuranet Solutions to install an artificial intelligence system to detect fires. The move follows two major fires in the town’s industrial areas this year.
The PyroGuard AI system uses artificial intelligence to spot fires early and alert the relevant services.
Under the agreement, seven monitoring stations and a radio repeater will be installed. They will cover Aradippou’s municipal boundaries, its industrial areas, the Waste Management Unit, the town hall and the Free Trade Zone.
Aradippou Mayor Christodoulos Partou and Neuranet Solutions chief executive William Demetriou signed the contract.
The municipality called for extra fire protection measures after a major fire broke out in June at a frozen food factory in the industrial area, threatening several nearby premises. The Fire Service mounted a large operation to tackle it.
In August, another major fire hit the area, this time at an industrial bakery. It caused extensive damage to the building but was put out before it could spread.
