Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has appointed Andreas Solomonides to lead its integrated ship management operations in Cyprus and Greece from January 1, 2027, bringing BSM Cyprus and BSM Hellas under a single leadership structure.

Solomonides, currently managing director of BSM Cyprus, will take charge of the integrated Ship Management Centre covering both locations.

BSM said bringing its Cyprus and Hellas operations together under one leadership would strengthen collaboration and allow the company to make better use of their combined capabilities.

According to its statement, customers will continue working with their existing contacts and will retain access to the same services and local expertise, the company added.

BSM chief executive officer Sebastian von Hardenberg said, “Andreas brings extensive operational experience, a deep understanding of both organisations and a strong commitment to our customers.”

He added, “His appointment provides clear leadership for BSM Cyprus and BSM Hellas while preserving the trusted relationships, services and local expertise our customers value.”

Von Hardenberg continued, “Having worked closely with both businesses throughout his career, he is well positioned to lead the continued development of our operations in Greece and Cyprus.”

Originally from Athens, Solomonides joined BSM Hellas as a technical officer in 2005.

Since then, he has held several senior positions, including technical superintendent, fleet manager and deputy managing director of BSM in Greece and Cyprus.

He also founded a maritime advisory service providing customised and specialist technical advice.

Meanwhile, Theophanis Theophanous, who has served as managing director of BSM Hellas since 2005, will become non-executive chairman of BSM Cyprus and Hellas.

“In this role, Theophanis will support a smooth leadership succession. I would like to thank him for his outstanding contribution over more than two decades and for his continued commitment to BSM Cyprus and BSM Hellas,” von Hardenberg added.

He continued, “He has been instrumental in establishing BSM Hellas as a trusted partner to customers and an employer of choice in Greece and achieved phenomenal growth and quality of service delivery in certain key vessel segments, especially in LNG.”
