Revolut users were unable to log in, make card payments or withdraw cash on Tuesday in an outage linked to a fault in Google Cloud services, according to information cited by Reuters and reported by protothema.gr. Problems were also reported at UK banks and NHS England services.

Google said its engineers were investigating a technical problem affecting its europe-west2 data centre in London.

Users trying to log in to the Revolut app were shown the message ‘Something went wrong’ and asked to try again later.

Revolut’s service status page showed that most of its services were either down or only partly working, including card payments and cash withdrawals from ATMs. “We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe,” the company said on X.

In Britain, NHS England services, bike rental platforms and court livestreams were also affected, according to Sky News.

Lloyds Bank acknowledged problems with some of its online services, but said its main app was working and customers could log in normally. The bank said it was aware of similar problems at other organisations and was monitoring the situation closely.

Halifax said on X that some customers were having difficulty accessing its app and online services. It apologised, said it was working to restore them and added that customers could still contact it by phone. It said it would update customers once services were back to normal.

In Germany, ING Germany said its customers were having difficulty logging in to its online banking services and mobile app because of a technical fault. It did not say whether the problem was linked to the Google Cloud outage.

No time has been given for services to be fully restored.
